It started with a yellow dress and a mountain.
I'm Sarah Lyndsay. A wilderness artist and photographer based in the Canadian Rockies. For over 15 years, I've been making images in wild places, and somewhere along the way, photography stopped being something I did and became something I am.
You might know me for the yellow dress. It shows up in my self-portraits, in alpine meadows, frozen lakes, mountain valleys, and it's become more than a signature. It's a symbol of showing up boldly in the places that make you feel small, and choosing to be seen anyway.
My work lives at the intersection of landscape photography and fine art self-portraiture. I'm drawn to the kind of images that don't just document a place but make you feel it, the cold, the quiet, the scale of something unhurried.
Beyond the images, I love sharing what I've learned. I lead photo tours through some of the most breathtaking landscapes in Canada, create educational content on YouTube, and offer workshops for photographers who want to move from technically correct to genuinely expressive.
I'm glad you're here.
Sarah Lyndsay xoxo
